(b) Food receptacles. ***Within the whelping building, a mold-like substance and contaminated food were observed along the metal ledge in the self feeder which was located inside an enclosure housing a puppy. The entire metal ledge inside the feeder was covered in a grayish-white, mold-like material and included some kibbles of dry food. There were also cobwebs formed inside the feeder. Contaminated food can decrease the dog's acceptance of the food and can increase the risk of disease and health hazards. The licensee needs to remove the current, caked and moldy feed to protect the health and well-being of the puppy. The licensee needs to establish and maintain a program to ensure that feeders are cleaned and sanitized at least once every two weeks and that measures are taken to ensure that there is no molding, deterioration and caking of feed at all times. To be corrected by: Corrected during inspection. Inspection and exit interview were conducted on 8/14/2014 with MDA and licensee. Additional Inspectors Leisner Erika, Veterinary Medical Officer
