During this inspection two degus were on exhibit and offered for sale in the pet store "Tammy's Flying Zebras." The exhibition and/or sale of these animals as regulated under the Animal Welfare Act requires a valid USDA license. No USDA license has been issued to this business or business owner (s). Agency records indicate application packets for licensing have been requested and sent on two prior dates. The owner stated to this inspector via telephone the packets were not received. The requirement for USDA licensing was also provided to the owners on October 19, 2014 during the wholesale purchase of the degus and other exotic mammals as documented on the USDA paperwork provided by the seller to the buyer, Tammy's Flying Zebras. No regulated activities may be conducted without a valid USDA license. The inspection was conducted with a facility representative. The exit interview was conducted with the facility representative in person and the owner via telephone.
