The indoor temperature was 47.3 degrees Fahrenheit inside the holding room housing 52 guinea pigs .There was no heater present in the holding room to prevent the temperature from falling below 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Guinea pigs were huddled in corners in an attempt to keep warm. A propane heater with two gas burners was brought into the holding room and the temperature increased to 61.5 degrees Fahrenheit. A safe and reliable heater must be installed in the guinea pig room to prevent the ambient temperature from falling below 60 degrees Fahrenheit. The heater should have a thermostat to control the temperature and to prevent the temperature from falling below 60 degrees.The ambient temperature must not fall below 60 degrees Fahrenheit when guinea pigs are present to protect the health and well-being of the animals.
