Runt piglets had not yet been moved for nursing care from farrowing pens, several larger piglets were waiting to be moved to treatment pens, a pile of dirty bedding was piled in the corner of the large breeding barn and attracting large clouds of flies, 3 animals had superficial blisters awaiting treatment, and the screens covering the intake vents in barn 2 were obscured with dirt and flies. Employees were aware of and concerned about these issues but had not yet been able to complete the work necessary to attend to these problems in a timely manner, leading to a potentially adverse impact on animal welfare. The facility must ensure that enough employees are available to attend to both time sensitive and routine husbandry practices. Correct by 14 October 2023. This inspection and exit interview were conducted with facility representatives. n
