2.40 (b)(2) Junior ID # 31, an orange and white adult cat was lethargic, with labored breathing had a dark dried substance crusted around his nose, eyes and on his chest. Additionally, he had matted hair and feces on his buttocks. The licensee obtained a diagnosis and written treatment plan for the cat on July 30, 2014. The treatment plan listed a 14 day protocol for antibiotics to have been completed by August 13, 2014. The licensee stated that she had administered 1 1/2 cc of Batril on August 19, 2014 after which the cat was reported to seize. No emergency care was attempted. There are no label directions or written guidance from a licensed veterinarian on the use of Baytril in this cat. The complete cure of an infection is crucial to prevent recurrence and spread of disease and to provide for the general health and well being of the animals at the facility. * At 4:30pm the licensee was given verbal instructions that the animal should be provided emergency vet care within 4 1/2 hours or by 9pm the same day. A written record of treatment from the licensed veterinarian should be made available during the next inspection.
