There is an expired bottle of Panacur liquid (expiration date of 12-2013). There is a bottle of Spectogard oral solution and a bottle of metronidazole for fish (Fish Zole) with no directions for use in dogs from the attending veterinarian. There is a bag of cephalexin capsules with no directions for use in dogs from the attending veterinarian or expiration date. The licensee mixes together and uses a combination of Flagyl, Albon, propolene glycol, and spectinomycin. There are no directions or approval from the attending veterinarian for the preparation and use of this medication combination for dogs. All of these medication are being stored in the medication cabnet of the whelping building. Lack of proper labeling of medications (including lack of directions for use) can result in medications being used incorrectly, prolonged medical problems, undesired side effects, and the use of expired medication. The licensee must ensure that all medications used in the facility are not expired and are labeled properly in accordance with standard veterinary practices.
